I'm sure just reading the guy's name would make some of you cringe but this is something that's been on my mind since the release of Pixels and people are STILL talking about it and calling it the worst movie ever made. To me, I don't think there's anything new to talk about. He's a dumb guy that makes and stars in dumb films. However, people seemed to like him okay in his early days (SNL as the Operaman character and They're All Gonna Laugh at You!) and even after that, they seemed to like...

I have an old pioneer dv668av universal player that I use for CD, SACD and dvd-a discs. It plays them well for its age but I’m sure I can improve on it cheaply. What are some good recommendations?

Forgotten Gems of the 90's

You had to see this coming.

There will be no judging in this thread. If you think the song is an overlooked or unappreciated gem, post it. It can be from famous artists or obscure. Try to post proper videos, but if you want to shine a light on a song that you liked and it seemed like nobody else did, post the track. I know there's tons of lost treasures out there that we haven't heard in a while. Let's show the world the 90's was more than Nirvana.

Joey Molland (Badfinger) Kickstarter 2019

Hi everyone, just wanted to spread the word about Joey Molland's kickstarter project. He's 80% of the way to his goal, and it's an all-or-nothing situation so he needs the rest of the money by October 9th. For any fans of Badfinger, I think Joey's solo music is the closest thing we get today. If you're on the fence, look up his previous solo projects, especially After the Pearl (1983) and This Way Up (2001). It's also being produced by Mark Hudson, so it's the highest profile stuff Joey has...

Songs that predicted the future, either intentional or not

Most obvious would be "The Times They Are A Changing", boy was that a prophetic one or what? Pretty much predicted most of the 1960's culture:

"...Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'..."

Another example, the very last song on Janis Joplin's last album (and...

Seasons 1-2 of “The Expanse” are currently available in the U.S. on Prime Video. All three seasons, comprising 36 episodes in all, will become available on the service in...

Rock songs that mention Christmas

I was thinking how there weren't as many Chrismtas-y Rock songs or albums that get me in the spirit the way, say I can put on any Ozzy/Sabbath or Alice Cooper album and get into the spirit of Halloween, or even just Halloweeny songs like Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper" and Rush's "Witch Hunt". And I don't mean seasonal releases i.e. Twisted Sister's Twisted Christmas, but something that gets played year round, but more so during the holidays.

What are some songs in Rock...

Genesis reunion in 2020?

Come on boys, do it while Phil still has his health. Peter hasn't been very busy lately and you know Tony Banks is getting bored from doing all that classical 'music'. Steve's chops are razor sharp from doing Genesis Revisited. For drums we can get Phil's son.

I'd definitely make the set list 'all inclusive', meaning it would include Genesis + solo career stuff.

Seriously serious thread.

Christian music biopic you would like to see the most?

Last year, I Can Only Imagine, a dramatized film about Christian music group MercyMe, became one of the biggest surprise hits at the box office, and with recent films like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, musical biopics are seeing a continued popularity.

Which Christian recording artist(s) would you be most interested in seeing a dramatized biopic made of them?

My first pick is Larry Norman, especially after reading the Gregory Thornbury book about his life. Very...

I thought I'd start a new thread and see if there is any interest in continuing it amongst other jazz listeners here.

There's the Jazz Beat, but you really can't have a conversation there, you can only talk about jazz. . . and for some strange reason alcohol. If you talk audio, or about instruments, or about the bad day you had, or how happy you are to be listening and relaxing, or anything else. . . someone complains, posts are deleted, fingers are wagged.

I'd like to have a thread where...

Artists that never played cover songs? (or came close)

$

Most bands or singers, no matter how successful as original songwriters, played or recorded songs written by other artists. Either on stage, or in the studio. Even the Beatles had plenty of cover songs.... on the early records.

Can you name any artists that never played cover songs? Or they had the absolute least number of cover songs (they came close).

I’m still trying to think of a few. ..
Boston (w/ Tom Scholtz) is my example.
